Muzica (Pty) Ltd is responsible for personal information processed through Muzica, unless stated otherwise.
2. Personal information we collect
We may collect:
- Account details such as name, email, username and profile information.
- Authentication information handled through Clerk or another auth provider.
- Payment and subscription information handled through Paystack.
- Artist profile information, uploads, metadata, songs, videos, images and links.
- Listener activity such as plays, likes, follows, searches, votes and playlists.
- Device, log, cookie, analytics and security information.
- Support messages and legal requests.
- Competition entries, votes and related activity.
3. Why we process personal information
We process personal information to:
- Create and manage accounts.
- Provide streaming, discovery, artist and competition features.
- Process subscriptions, cancellations and refunds.
- Moderate content and enforce platform rules.
- Detect fraud, vote manipulation, payment abuse and security threats.
- Communicate service notices, support replies and legal notices.
- Improve Muzica's products, recommendations and reliability.
- Comply with legal, accounting, tax and regulatory duties.
4. Legal basis
We process personal information where necessary for contract performance, consent, legal obligations, legitimate interests, fraud prevention, security, dispute handling, platform operation, or another lawful basis under applicable law.
5. Sharing personal information
We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate Muzica, including authentication providers, hosting providers, database/storage providers, payment processors, analytics providers, email providers, legal/accounting advisors, fraud-prevention providers and support tools.
6. Payment information
Payments are processed by Paystack or another payment provider. Muzica does not intentionally store full card numbers on its own servers.
7. International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards.
8. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for login, security, preferences, analytics, performance and advertising where applicable. See the Cookie Policy.
9. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, copyright, tax, payout, security, dispute and backup purposes.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights
Subject to law, you may request access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction or withdrawal of consent. To make a request, contact privacy@muzica.co.za.
12. Complaints
You may contact us first at privacy@muzica.co.za. You may also contact the Information Regulator South Africa if you believe your personal information rights have been infringed.
13. Children
Muzica is not intended for children under 13. Users under 18 should use Muzica with parent or guardian permission.
